Each country charm is 6.6mm by 10mm, so a little smaller than most people picture. That is deliberate. It means a collection of twenty sits flat on a wrist or a bag instead of clanging around, and you can keep adding for years without it becoming a handful.

316L stainless steel with real 18k gold plating, and the flag colors are set into a deep-cut groove rather than printed on top. They are water-resistant, so rain, hand-washing and a day at the beach are fine.

The first version of these did, and it is the reason there is now a third. The ring used to be welded on and could come apart. On the ones we make now the ring is part of the charm body, so there is no seam to fail, the groove holding the flag is cut deeper, and there is an invisible protective coating over the top. If a charm ever does come off or arrive damaged, email us and we replace it free.

Anything you already carry. Every charm has a lobster claw, so it clips straight onto a bag zip, your keys, or a bracelet you already own. We also make our own holders if you want one: a bracelet, a necklace and a keychain, and the keychain takes 100 charms across four rings. Even a full collection stays light enough to hang off a bag without you noticing it.

Yes. There are US state charms, and city and island charms too, so a collection can go as detailed as your travels did. There is also a Photo Charm, where you send us your own picture, a landmark, a photo from the trip, a flag we do not carry, and we make that one for you.

Make a custom charm

Yes. Every charm has a blank back and you can engrave up to 39 characters on it. People use it for dates, names, or something only two people will understand. It is what turns a charm into a gift rather than a souvenir.

Every charm comes with a second one free. It applies automatically at checkout, so there is no code to enter and nothing to claim. Whatever you pick, you are choosing pairs, and most people start with two or three places rather than trying to cover everywhere at once.

Your charms, and a free mystery gift with every order. At five charms we add a travel kit, and at ten we add a charm holder. On top of that, every charm you buy comes with a second one free. Nothing to claim and no code to enter, it all applies automatically as you add.

Yes. Buy 1, Get 2 Free is running at the moment, applied automatically at checkout with no code needed. Stock moves unevenly: we make each charm to order, and some countries sell out faster than we can restock them, so there are usually a few unavailable at any time. If the one you want is showing as in stock, it is worth adding now rather than waiting for the next trip.

No, and most people do not. Start with the three that actually mean something: where you grew up, where you lived, the trip you still talk about. Because every charm comes with a second one free, three becomes six. The rest can come when the next trip gives you a reason, and a collection you built over years reads better than one you bought in an afternoon anyway.

12 to 14 days. Each order is made one at a time, so there is a short production window before it ships, and you get tracking as soon as it does. Tracking sometimes pauses for a few days in transit, which is normal and does not mean anything has gone wrong.

We ship worldwide, and tracking is included wherever you are. Most orders arrive within 12 to 14 days. Times vary a little by destination, and a few places take a few days longer, but tracking will tell you where it is the whole way.

Outside the US, UK, Australia and Norway, customs or import fees may apply when your order arrives. Those are set by your country rather than by us, so we cannot waive them or refund them. If you want to know what to expect before you order, email us and we will tell you what we know for your country.

You have 60 days from delivery to ask for a return and a full refund, including engraved, custom and wrong size items. Items must be unworn and unwashed, and you pay the return shipping. If something arrives damaged or wrong, email us within 60 days with a photo and we send a free replacement or a full refund. Either way, one email to hello@exchange-life.com and a real person answers.

We have been going since 2019, we are rated 4.7 out of 5 from 4,077 Trustpilot reviews with over 7,000 five-star reviews across platforms, and 153,251 people have collected these. If you email hello@exchange-life.com you get a reply from a person with a name.

No, and the difference is specific rather than a matter of opinion. We are on the third version of this charm, and each version fixed something the last one got wrong: the print, then the ring, the groove and the coating. The copies are still selling version one, because they copied it before we changed any of that. It is the difference you notice in year two rather than in week one.

It is one of the most common reasons people buy. You do not need to know everywhere they have been. Pick three places that tell their story, and if you want, engrave the back of one, up to 39 characters, with a date or a name or something only the two of you will get. Then leave them room to add the rest themselves. That last part is the point: you are giving them somewhere to start, not finishing their story for them.

Plenty of people who own these do not wear jewelry either. Every charm has a lobster claw, so it clips onto your keys, a bag zip or a backpack strap without ever going near your wrist. We make a keychain holder for exactly that. It is small, it is not trying to be an accessory, and it is just a record of where you have been that happens to be visible, which is usually how the conversation starts.
